Omar Brown, 19

Died Sept. 25, 2010 at 1:52 p.m.

Omar Brown, a 19-year-old black man, was fatally shot Saturday, Sept. 25, near Martin Luther King Avenue and East 10th Street in Long Beach, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired about 1:30 p.m., according to a Long Beach Police Department news release.

When authorities arrived, they discovered Brown shot several times in the torso. He was taken to a hospital where he died 30 minutes later, according to coroner's records.

During the preliminary investigation, officers learned that Brown was standing outside a home in the 1000 block of East 10th Street when someone walked by and shot him several times. The shooter fled the area in an unknown direction.

The incident is being investigated as possibly gang-related, police said.

RIP Brother Omar Brown. I passed by this site today,said a prayer for the family and friends left behind, and thought to myself that a least five people have been killed within walking distance of this very spot.Peace and Blessings to all.
