Omar Sanchez, 18, a young Latino, was shot in a drive-by attack at Avenue 60 and Hayes Avenue in Highland Park about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16.
Officer Julianne Sohn of LAPD's media relations office said Sanchez and another Latino man were standing on the sidewalk Saturday afternoon, Aug. 16, when a black four-door sedan pulled up next to them. Someone inside the vehicle asked Sanchez and the other man what gang they belonged to. Then Sanchez and the man were both shot. Sanchez was taken to a local hospital, where he died the next day. The second man was also taken to a nearby hospital, and recovered from his gunshot wound.

Omar sanchez was my cousin i still cant believe he is gone and im 100percent sure he wasnt from any gang for him to deserve that the reason im sure is that i always went to parties walked around highland park with out any promblems i knw he wouldnt put his little cousin in life danger i just wish i could knw more info about this but my aunt doesnt tell me anything because she said why argue my son is gone but its just not fair!
