Pamela Fayed, 45, a white woman, was fatally stabbed during an assault at 1875 E. Century Park in Century City about 6:30 p.m. Monday, July 28.

According to Sgt. Ruby Malachi of the Los Angeles Police Department, Fayed, who lived in Ventura County, was on the third floor of a parking structure, when a man approached her and stabbed her several times in the neck. Witnesses told police that they heard the woman screaming for help.

At least two doctors and a bystander went to her aide, Malachi said.  Fayed was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.  The suspect was described as a slender man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. He was last seen driving from the parking lot in a red sport-utility vehicle.

"We're still early into the investigation," Malachi said.  The parking lot is surrounded by several high-rise buildings and is around the corner from Fox Studios and Beverly Hills. There is only one main entrance to the parking lot, and  drivers usually must pay before exiting.

Here's a link to an article which describes the whole Pamela Fayed investigation:

http://www.thecamarilloacorn.com/news/2008-08-22/Community/Teenage_daughter_of_slain_woman_given_control_over.html

Pamela Fayed was due to appear in court the following day for a divorce proceeding "to hear a judge's ruling that may have resulted in James Fayed's paying $1 million in child support and alimony."

The Fayed's were running an internet gold trading company. They were also under investigation by the FBI as "Prosecutors allege that James Fayed used his company to send and receive more than $20 million in a complicated Ponzi scheme. According to court records, the company had been under investigation for more than a year".

The LA Times has a link on the sidebar which shows that her husband is going to stand trial for her murder. It appears he thought he had a good alibi since she had just left a meeting with him at Century City. Unfortunately "the credit card used at Avis car rental in Camarillo to rent a red sport utility vehicle, which was reportedly seen leaving the crime scene, was issued to James Fayed's company. The credit card, according to federal investigators, was found at James Fayed's home when he was arrested." One of Fayed's employees was also arrested for the murder.

A very sordid story for Pamela Fayed. How involved she was in the company's Ponzi scheme is unknown but the couple were certainly prepared to fight for the company's assets.

RIP
