Pedro Hernandez, 19 [Updated]
Died June 26, 2010 at 11:33 p.m.
Pedro Hernandez, a 19-year-old Latino man, was shot and killed Saturday, June 26, in the 400 block of South Locust Avenue in Compton, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Hernandez was at a party in a vacant house about 11:15 p.m. when he got into an argument with another person, said Det. Marcelo Quintero, who is handling the investigation for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's homicide bureau.
Authorities believe Hernandez had consumed NOS, or nitrous oxide, and was acting erratically, Quintero said.
During the argument, a third person intervened and shot Hernandez in the head, Quintero said. Authorities were called and Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene, according to coroner's records.
Investigators are hoping to make an arrest in connection with the case sometime this week. Once additional details become available, The Times will provide an update to the post.
Anyone with information about Hernandez's death is asked to contact Quintero at (323) 890-5500.
[Updated July 9: On June 29, authorities arrested Adan Lazcano of Lynwood, an 18-year-old Latino man, in connection with Hernandez’s death. He has been charged with murder, Quintero said.
Lazcano fled the scene after the shooting, but witnesses identified him to investigators. He is not a gang member, Quintero said.
According to the sheriff's inmate information website, Lazcano's next court appearance is scheduled July 20 in Compton Superior Court.]

nitrous oxide???? i dont get it?! people actually use this to get high? i mean, isnt this a drug only someone that works in the medical field has access to? i posted a similar post and for some reason it was not printed. im just curious how in the world did they have access to that!?!?!?!?

Nitrous Oxide or "NOZ" is typically sold at house parties or "flyer" parties by the balloon.
A lungful of nitrous oxide results in the temporary loss of motor control. Users immediately experience a dreamy mental state with mild audio and visual hallucinations.
Bottom line is if you're dumb enough to inhale a big balloon of NOZ at a house party in the middle Compton you're dumb enough to get a slug to the dome.

nitrous canisters are easy to come by. besides, it's even possible that they were doing whip hits - inhaling the nitrous from cans of whipping cream.

Pedro Hernandez ( my cousin) was put to rest on Friday, July 9th, 2010. It was a very sad day for our family. We have lost someone/something that can never be replaced because of someones stupidity. The hardest part was seeing his parents, no parent should EVER have to go through that.
I hope these two guys get life in prison for their idiotic decisions. No one deserves to get their life taken from them!

I'm guessing if the gun didn't belong to the shooter then yes there should be another person.
They would be charged as an accessory and since it is murder they will get a long time just like the shooter.

Omg!!...i've been looking for Pedro since 2006..i looked for him on Facebook and Myspace..dis is da last place where i expected to find him..=*( i met Pedro wen he use to go to Fremont high school..I first talked to him wen he got jumped by da florencias by da girls locker room..i was there and he, not even knowing gave me his jacket to hold it for him..we use to kick it in lunch sumtimes wen i ditched class b cuz we had different lunches..i was A track and he was B track..i lost contact with him wen i left dat skul..and ever since then i looked for him but never found him til now..Perdo was very smart da only bad thing about him is dat he was down..like no other..he wasnt no punk ass guy..fuk its sad to know dat my journey to look for him has ended and wat hurts the most is dat i never got a chance to tell him wat i felt for him =*(..can somebody post up wat cementary he got buried at??..plz..can we get an update on dat??

An innocent person is in jail for someone else's actions. A couple more court visits will determine if he stays in prison for the rest of his life. If someone knows any information about this homicide do not hesitate to speak up. A persons future is in stake.

adan lazcano is innocent who should really pay is the owner of the gun, i havent been to the courts but a friend told me that the owner of the gun, practically is blaming everything on adan, the owner of the gun use to live in front of where the accident happen when pedro came looking for problems, he went to his house, grabbed the gun and went back ,his couzin told me this since they dont get along no more,but talking with the truth the only one to blame is pedro just like he was a down as who ever shot him too

Word of advice to all you little children/ teens, whatever age you are. IF YOU KNOW SOMETHING SPEAK UP.. alot of you know what happened that night and are to scared to talk. I don't know why.. NOTHING will happen to you.
