Phillip Walters, a 16-year-old black teenager, was shot and killed Wednesday, June 22, in the 11600 block of Daleside Avenue in Hawthorne, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office, said residents in the area heard gunshots about 11:15 p.m.
When authorities arrived, they discovered Walters down with several gunshot wounds to the head, torso and right leg. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Winter said.
