Rachelle Washington, a 27-year-old black woman, was shot in the chest at 10610 Budlong Ave. in Athens and died at 10:27 p.m. Monday, May 7.
A 14-year-old boy was also hit by gunfire in this 9:45 p.m. shooting, and was left in critical condition. The pair were standing in a crowd of dozens associated with a local gang when a light-colored car drove by, and bullets flew. Both victims were transported to hospitals.
