Ralph Stofleth, 90

Died May 19, 2008 at 5:15 p.m.

Ralph Stofleth, a 90-year-old white man, was found dead Monday, May 19,  in the backyard of a home in the 9800 block of Potter Street in Bellflower, according to authorities.

Coroner's officials believe he had been killed sometime between Feb. 1 and Feb. 8.

His body was discovered partially buried near a backyard shed covered in sheets and cardboard. His daughter, Linda Sue Copeland, a 56 year-old white woman, was arrested that day on suspicion of his murder.

Two days after Stofleth's body was found, Los Angeles County prosecutors filed one count of murder against Copeland. As of Jan. 25, 2010, Copeland remained incarcerated in county jail in lieu of $1 million bail. Her next court date is scheduled for March 5, according to jail records.
