Raul Castillo, a 36-year-old Latino, was shot twice in the back on Saturday, May 23, in the 6900 block of Goodland Avenue in Valley Glen, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office.
Officers responded to a call about a possible shooting about 10:30 p.m.and found Castillo lying on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Detectives said Castillo, of North Hollywood, was walking west on Bassett Street when he was approached by one or more people. The assailants fired four shots then drove away in a dark-colored car, according to the LAPD.
The LAPD has not yet determined a motive for the shooting or determined the type of gun used.

Raul Castillo was a great guy and a great dad.He is truly missed by all who knew him.He holds a special place in my heart.He would always make me laugh and loved to dance and sing for me.We had some crazy wonderful times together.As his anniversary of his death just past last month.It was clear on all of his family and friends faces that he is truly missed.His life was cut to short,he left us to soon.Its funny but when I look at his sons and brothers I can still see him,and know he is still with me.I will always love him and miss him. signed : Kellie (your smiley girl)
