Reza Tehrani, a 37-year-old man of Middle Eastern descent, was found dead on a bus bench of blunt-force trauma in the 1500 block of Palisades Park along Ocean Avenue in Santa Monica about 8 a.m. Sunday, June 3.
A passerby flagged down police after seeing him lying on the bench, with blood on his forehead. Tehrani is thought to be homeless, and police believe he may have been struck by someone.
The area is in the part of the park adjacent to the senior center near Broadway. Anyone passing through there early Sunday morning who may have seen anything is asked to call Santa Monica police at (310) 458-8451, or after hours at (310) 458-8427.

They describe the suspect as a homeless man. He was also suspected in a different assault on another homeless man. Nice work by the SMPD for getting this guy as quickly as they did.

According to County Jail records, Joshua Chiaromonte, a 34-year-old white man arrested in connection with Tehrani's death, was sent to Patton State Hospital on Jan. 19, 2010. Patton is a forensic mental facility that handles judicially committed, mentally disordered adult individuals. Chiaromonte was arrested June 4, 2007.
