Ricardo Hernandez, a 38-year-old Latino, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, more than three months after he was beaten with a wooden stick near Independence and Quartz avenues in South Gate, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Hernandez, described in coroner records as homeless, was taken to a hospital after the May 19 assault and died while an inpatient. His alleged assailant also was homeless, according to the record.
