Ricardo Rojas, a 21-year-old Latino, was fatally shot Saturday, Sept. 18, in the 6900 block of Adamson Avenue in Bell Gardens, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
A fight broke out about 2 a.m. during a backyard party attended by about 20 people, authorities said. A number of people were apparently involved.
“Several shots were then fired from what appears to have been multiple weapons,” said Sheriff’s Lt. Pat Nelson.
Rojas and Sebastian Avila, a 26-year-old Latino, were both hit by gunfire and pronounced dead at the scene.
Noe Ramirez, a 20-year-old Latino, was arrested immediately after the fight. He has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting deaths.
A 27-year-old Bell Gardens woman was shot in a limb during the melee, authorities said, and is recovering. An 18-year-old man was found badly beaten. He remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
Ramirez is currently being held at the Men's Central jail in downtown in lieu of $3.5-million bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 27 at the Downey Municipal Court.
The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department, which is assisting the Bell Gardens Police Department, said the investigation is continuing. Detectives ask anyone with information to contact the homicide bureau at (323) 890-5500.

I wonder why Ramirez is scheduled to appear at the Downey Courthouse. I would think Bell Gardens falls under East L.A. Hopefully, this young punk won't be having his freedom for the rest of his life!!

Ricardo Rojas was celebrating his 21st. birthday with his family and high school friends; having a good time when he’s life was cut short by sebastian avila. avila and his friends were not invited guests; they crashed the gathering with the sole purpose of creating trouble. Ricardo was gunned down in front of his little nieces and nephews; they will forever be traumatized by the image of their beloved uncle laying on floor dead and that of their grandfather washing off the blood of this dead son. Rest in Peace Ricardo Rojas you will be missed.

It's sad that people die... But I am almost certain that the individuals involved both the victims and the suspects were gang members or affiliated to something like that. So sometimes you have to know what your involving yourself with.

I went to school with sebastian known him for years but after high school we lost touch its sad to hear news about a classmate/friend like this Rest In Peace to both victims..What i dont understand is if Rojas and sebastian were gunned down by the same person or if they had problems with eachother???

It was a fight between two other people. A so called "friend" of Rojas and a gang member (Ramirez) that Rojas never knew who just happened to show up with other people to his birthday party. His "friend" and Ramirez got into an argument which led to Rojas stepping in to STOP the arguing. Either the "friend" or Ramirez pulled out a gun and shots were fired. Unfortunately Rojas was in the way of gunfire. May he rest in peace.

Never would i have thought that something like this could happen to people you know. i talked and hugged ricardo for the last time that night, never thinking that that would be the last time i would see him. young men please understand that taking a life is not gonna make you any better or you are not winning the fight this only means that you are ruining yours. Stop the violence, and stop this chain of killing no one wins in this game! Youngsters what are u dying for?? It's a stupid cause so just stop!
