Richard Winkleman, 48

Richard Winkleman, a 48-year-old white man, was killed by a shotgun blast near 2567 Walnut Ave. in Venice and died at 11:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 17.

Detectives believe he may have been killed in an attempted robbery. He had parked his 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle in the alley and was walking away from it when someone confronted him. There was an argument, then a blast. Winkleman died at the scene; the suspect fled.

Winkleman was divorced with grown children. He was a longtime Venice resident who had spent time in prison.
