Died Nov. 5, 2008 at 5:17 a.m.

Roger Lopez, a 34-year old white man, was shot once in the back of the head while sitting in his vehicle in the 1900 block of Echo Park Avenue about 6:45 p.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2008. He died of his injuries two days later, authorities reported.

By the time police arrived at the scene of the shooting, two people who had been with Lopez when he was shot had taken him to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, said Los Angeles Police Det. Lisa Governo.

The two people who took Lopez to the hospital were not injured and were cooperating with investigators, she said. She did not know which gangs were involved or whether Lopez or his friends had gang affiliations.
