Ronzell Lane, 20
Died Sept. 9, 2010 at 8:34 p.m.
Ronzell Lane, a 20-year-old black man, was shot and killed Thursday, Sept. 9, in the 9100 block of South Western Avenue in Gramercy Park, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Authorities received a 911 call at 8:21 p.m. reporting that shots had been fired, said LAPD 77th Street Homicide Det. Sam Arnold, who is handling the investigation.
When police arrived, they found Lane sitting in the passenger seat of a parked vehicle in a parking lot. He had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene, Arnold said.
Arnold said he was unable to provide a description of the possible shooter or shooters because investigators were still working on the case.
No arrests had been made in connection with Lane's death, he said. Investigators were still trying to determine whether the shooting was gang-related.

These young men haven't been around long enough to leave their inprint on the world yet, let alone in someones life!
Some come from messed up childhoods, and by the time they turn 18, 19, or 20 their just starting to realized they don't have to be a product of their environment.

@ Recko. I grew up on century and western. moved away to another state last summer. This area is the home of the RICH ROLLIN 90 Crips. Never had a problem with them though. always got love from them and the UGs and the HTHCs. Its the other hoods that come through there causing the funk. I went to Jesse Owens EVERYDAY as a child teen and young adult to play basketball and swim. NEVER had I had a problem. ONLY when outsiders came around was there drama

@ Chris. I agree with you statement 100%. Im not a "banger" and proud that I was able to make it outta that enviroment. When I spoke of "OUTSIDERS" I was speaking in "their" terms. And to be honest when you live in those areas like 90's hood as i did you in a way have no choice BUT to respect your surroundings and who comes through. I had to be smart. When I was out I had my head on a swivel. Its sad but true. Even if you dont bang. you have to at times think as if you did bc no tellin what the next guy you walk by or drives past you may be thinking. You may be as innocent as a saint but some fools around there dont care and will get you if you arent smart about your actions. Its very sad that people have to live their lives like this. So sad how people assume they knew this young black man from an article...SMH!! A family has lost a child to the streets. It's a shame. Some of the comments are so so sad. A father, a mother and two granmothers are all grieving for their lost. Regardless of what he was or what you assumed he was, he is someones loved one. He will be missed.
