Died June 9, 2012

Roy Shephard, a 40-year-old black man, died Saturday, June 9, hours after he was shot in the 1200 block of 121st Street in Willowbrook, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Deputies responded to a call of shots fired and a man down on June 8 about 9:43 p.m., officials said.

Authorities arrived and found the victim with several gunshot wounds. Paramedics were called and Shephard was taken to St. Francis Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:50 a.m.

Shephard appears to have been shot during a drive-by, officials said, although there is no vehicle description.

The shooting is believed to be gang-related. The victim had no gang affiliation.

Roy was an extremely close family friend. He was always nice and respectable. My prayers go out to his family and mine.

Roy was my step dad married to my mom Mercey Shepard he was the only man I called dad we conversated from time to time but he was always at.work I wish he didn't go outside that night, how could you take a innocent mans life? He has kids!
