Shavar Davis, 16, a black youth, was shot in the torso at the intersection of 92nd Street and Budlong Avenue in Athens at 12:56 p.m., and died at 1:37 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at King-Harbor/UCLA hospital.
Drive-by shooters roared up. A passenger in the front right seat leaned out and fired. Davis fell near a small grocery/liquor store that was closed at the time.
Athens has been one of the most hard-hit areas of the region this year in terms of homicides, especially this area along Budlong.
