Simmie W. Wright, a 89-year-old black male, died Thursday, March 8, in Long Beach, according to the Los Angeles County coroner.
Wright had called 911 to say he needed to eat and that his "grandson was supposed to be taking care if him but was not," according to coroner's records.
He was taken by ambulance to a hospital where he was diagnosed with pneumonia. His death was listed as a homicide.
