Steven Alaniz, a 50-year-old Latino, died on Sept. 10, after he was shot several times in the 800 block of North Eleanor Street in Pomona, according to Los Angeles County coroner's officials.

Alaniz was found shot in the backyard of a residence and pronounced dead at the scene at 8:15 p.m., said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office.
