Eight reader comments about Tahir Hafeez

The young brother was my student at Crenshaw Community Youth Charter School back in 2001. He was also my friend and Muslim brother. We were from the same community of orthodox Muslims in LA. He really was a mannerable and thoughtful young man. Strong young brother if you can understand what I mean. He just needed more support from the Muslim community, something that is serverly lacking at this time. He is the 4th student from that high school class of about 25 young men that "I know of" who have been murdered. I'm teaching at a university in Saudi Arabia now but when I got the news here, I cried. It really hurt me.

Tahir is/was the father of our 10 year old son. He was a good brother despite his faults. He is truly missed and will never be forgotten. We love him and my son misses his dad trmendously. It was such a shock when we found out because we had just talked to him April 24 & 25, that Sun & Mon before he was murdered. We were making plans for our son to come and visit him during the summer. And just like that, he's gone. I pray his soul rest in peace. His family is constantly praying for him and we wish he still was here. This is such a tragic situation and I still can't believe it. I feel like I'm in a bad dream and all I have to do is wake up and things will be back the way they were. I cried for months and I finally got to the point where I could talk about it and not break down as much, but it still hurts especially when I look at my son who looks just like his daddy...

— Ajeenah Gayhardt, so not only was he a father at age 16, he had "faults" which can only be construed as being a gangster.

Despite his faults, Tahir was a good man. Nobody in this world is perfect, nobody. Regardless of his past or present he still left this earth by the hands of someone else and he has family and friends who miss him dearly. It kills me how people don't even know someone but yet they are quick to slander their name. Nobody deserves to be murdered.

Ajeenah don't entertain ignorance, ignore it! You don't have to explain who Tahir is or what type of person he is. Hope you and your son are doing better! Luv ya'll...keep your head up!

Nata, me and Daerese are doing better. You know your mind gets to wondering off sometimes but I finally got to the point where I can talk about it and not break down. Wish he was still here though as would anybody.

You have to forgive me I'm not sure who you are...
