Timmy Moore

Timmy Moore, a 17-year-old black youth, was shot and killed Friday, Jan. 29, at Orange Grove and La Verne avenues in Pomona, authorities said.

Police said they received "numerous calls" from witnesses reporting the shooting that occurred shortly before 4 p.m. at Ted Greene Park.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of killing Moore and injuring two other teenagers in the incident, Pomona police said. Police had originally reported a second teen was killed in the shooting, but the unidentified youth is brain dead and on life support, authorities said.

Officers arrived to find the two most seriously injured boys still at the park. The third youth was also treated for gunshot injuries and is expected to survive.

The officers tracked down the suspect shortly after, they said. He was hiding behind a house at the southern edge of the park on North Orange Grove Avenue. They booked him into the Pomona Police Jail on suspicion of murder.

Detectives are seeking additional information. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to call them at (909) 620-2085.

timmy man, i met timmy when i was in the 6th grade i am now in the 10th he was my bestfriend at the time (timmea) his sister brother. I had a crush on timmy.we often talked when i called to speak to timmea. After my 7th grade year i moved to victorville so we didnt speak as much as we did back then.i spoke with timmy two weeks ago we had some laughs and he asked when i would visit him.Now i wish i wouldve got down there sooner. He was always fun of life,it crazy how in a blink of an eye hes gone.! i know his mom and timmea are going crazy i cried also when i first found out. timmy i love you bro.and cant believe your gone.

This is gang related, especially if they were hangin at the park, 2 other black men died in that area in recent years. Is that 357 hood? or ghost town crips? i wonder if its racial? i kno they stay at war, but its not a famous gang hang out area..its mostly for kids little league gangs but in pomona never kno.

A lot of people don't understand live by a sword die by one and lil timmy lived by a sword so he died by one. It is real sad that another black youth was taken by gang violence. But timmy was at that park for a reason just like the rest of the boys. I think they should charge the boy that recovered with his death as well. He should pay for stupidy 2.

It's so sad that this kid was killed. No person deserves to die at the hands of another. Equally sad for the kids posting these messages to their friend. Their postings are mispelled and sound so uneducated, I didn't understand most of them. I wish they would focus on their educations and learn how to communicate intelligently.

Yea and then you gotta ask yourself why the richest country in the world has more people that cant spell or read then a communist country like Cuba. Look it up. Its a shame. And if you complete that thought you will come closer to understand why so many people end up getting killed in senseless violence.

Rest in Peace young man.

Educated and Mr. Wolf: Yes you're right. Most of these folks here have very poor reading and writing skills. It is very unlikely, it seems to me, that they will ever be able to hold down decent jobs as a result. Who is to blame? We certainly spend TONS of money on public education. Is it the teachers unions emphasizing their interests above those of the students? Is it bad parenting/bad environment at home? Is it because particularly in the LA school system so very many students are trying to learn English at the same time as all the rest of the material? I really don't know but we better do something or we're all up the creek without a paddle. For all you who have posted this poorly written unintelligible stuff, do you have any opinions or thoughts about why you have ended up nearly illiterate? Are you even aware of it?

A lot of people complain about the little affect if any our blogging actually has. To them I say it does not matter how little reach it has as long as it has it! To answer your question "NO" a lot of them have no idea 1. That they are illiterate 2. That where they live is dangerous 3. That daily violence is not normal 4. That there is another way!

Some kids that I work with actually think it's cool. Not only to write but talk as they write. They do not realize how stupid they sound because no one points out to them! Some parents speak the same way. Parent involvement (or lack thereof) is definitely the biggest factor!

If u have blogged on here long enough you have read the heated interactions we have or had w them. They are reacting, and even though they do not admit it they think about what we say and respond even if to defend a dead point like "only god can judge my dead homie" types. Truth be told some are never held accountable for their actions/opinions until they get here.
Keep it going people!

Thanks for posting!

If you have gotten this far on this list of comments; take 3 minutes and pray for the family left behind. The mom that has to deal with the loss of a son ( only son); sisters that have to deal with the loss of a brother and other family members who will daily recall his existance in the earth. Pray that God will give them the strength to face each day with optimism and hope for a brighter day. Pray that others will stand up and police their communities so that senseless cold blooded murders like this end..... Praying for the family and all those who read this comment!
