Died April 4, 2010 at 3:13 p.m.

Fidel Cisneros, a 47-year-old Latino, was found dead Sunday, April 4, on Hungry Valley Road, five miles west of Interstate 5 in Gorman, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

[Note: An earlier version of this post, based on initial information from authorities, described the homicide victim as an "unidentified male." The person's name and cause of death had been withheld until relatives could be notified.]

[Updated on Oct. 28: A passerby was walking along Hungry Valley Road about 3:13 p.m. when the person found Cisneros' body, said Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner’s office.

Authorities were called, and Cisneros was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to coroner's records, Cisneros died from a gunshot wound to the head and his body was dumped in the remote area.]

[Updated on Nov. 1: Sheriff's homicide Det. Linda Muse, who is handling the investigation, said Cisneros' body had been exposed to the elements and it was unknown as to exactly how long it had been in the area. Authorities were able to identify him through fingerprints, she said.

Muse said Cisneros had been homeless for several years and at the time of his death was living at an encampment in Torrance.

Investigators are still trying to determine the circumstances leading up to his death.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Muse at (323) 890-5582. Those wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.]
