Van Knott Jr., 19

Died Jan. 28, 2008 at 9:11 a.m.

Van Knott Jr., a 19-year-old black man, was shot multiple times in the chest at 714 E. 97th St. in the Watts area about 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28. Knott was outside talking with a friend when a gunman in a Dodge Charger pulled up and shot him.

Knott was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Knott's killing is related to an ongoing spasm of Watts gang retaliation shootings.
