Deonte Venus, a 33-year-old black man, was stabbed to death Monday, Jan. 9, in the 4100 block of Somerset Drive in Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw, according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.
Venus got into a violent fight with his girlfriend and was stabbed, according to Ed Winter, spokesman for the coroner's office.
Authorities were called and Venus was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:30 a.m., Winter said.
The coroner's office had no other information about the case.
The Times has contacted investigators to obtain additional details about the killing and will post an update as soon as possible.

Deonte was a year under me in junior high. He was soo short and cute snd funny as hell. He instantly became a part of our crew because he was so down to earth and comical. This news about him haf me in such disbelief. I had just seen him at the crenshaw mall a couple of months ago. He wasnt short anymore but he was still the Deonte I remembered. I wil miss him.

Deonte it hurt me sooo bad how your life ended so sudden. I wish i could turn back the hands of time we have known each other for a very very long time and just knowing that you are no longer here is so hard to deal with. There is no talking, no running into you some where. Even though we parted years ago you always held a place in my heart, this is so hard to deal with because i can not understand how can someone take your life you are so loved by many you are such a person that was full of life happy made others feel good when you were around if you were not danceing are singing you was telling a joke no matter what you always put a smile on many faces. This girl took you away from so many people family, friends and there is know replacing DEONTE. Even though this girl killed you, she stab you once before and now she as accomplish her goal and she get to walk free not getting know responability for her actions its ok because she have GOD to deal with and HER DAY WILL COME CAUSE GOD IS GONNA BEAT THAT ASSSSSS!!!!!
