Victor Solis, a 24-year-old Latino, was shot Saturday, May 2, about 1:45 p.m. in the 1600 block of Pepper Avenue in Cypress Park, according to Los Angeles police.
Solis was a passenger in a vehicle, and someone approached the car, officials said.
"Words were exchanged and the suspect produced a handgun and opened fire," said Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner's office.
Solis was taken to the hospital where he died Sunday, May 3, according to coroner's records.

Update: On Monday, May 11, Los Angeles police arrested Joshua Ricardo Galindez, an 18-year old Latino, in connection with Solis' killing. His arrest came a four days after police apprehended Adrian Martinez, a 21-year old Latino, also in connection with the shooting death of Solis.
"Both suspects were believed to be gang members and a danger to the community," according to an LAPD news release. Authorities said they believed Galindez was the shooter.
Galindez was arrested in the 3200 block of Granada St. shortly after 5:30 p.m., according to police records. He is being held without bail at Men's Central Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on May 28, according to sheriff's records.
Martinez was arrested in the 6500 block of W. 6th St. shortly after noon on Thursday, May 7, according to police records. He is being held on $3 million bond at Men's Central Jail. He is scheduled to appear next in court on May 21.

Punks need to learn to fight, even if there is at gun at reach. Most crimes are done sper the moment to impress to other party with the shooter, his friend. R.I.P. big man. I wanna join the force to take these scums down.

I knew Adrian Martinez ever since he was a little boy, His Mom,sister and I were very good friends. I knew he was capable of being and doing so many positive things I hate it that he got involved in this!!! He was a good person to me and my heart goes out to his innocent Mom, Dad, sister, and two daughters who have suffered a loss aswell. Being a male growing up in Cypress Park is tough. I feel for Adrian but my heart goes out to Victor and his family. He was one of the decent guys who made the smart decision in not becoming a CXP boy but getting his life taken by one. I didn't know you Victor I can honestly say I wish I did, I was at the Cypress Park Carnival when I heard the gunshots that killed you. I was raised in Cypress Park my whole life and I have been permanently scarred by many things I have seen growing up in that neighborhood. After seeing Sheriff Debuty Abel dead on the floor seconds after he got murdered that was my wake up call to leave Cypress Park once and for all. At that time I was pregnant with my first born child a baby girl. Now that I have a son, I knew it was destiny for me to leave Cypress Park for good. Victor...well meet one day and one day you'll be with your family again.
