Young Lee, 62

Died Nov. 9, 2009 at 8:45 p.m.

Young Lee, a 62-year-old Asian man, was beaten to death  Monday, Nov. 9, in the 3300 block of Jefferson Boulevard in Jefferson Park, authorities said.

Los Angeles Police Det. Robert Lait said Lee, an employee of a liquor store on the block, got into an argument with a man inside the store. The two went outside, where Lee was "repeatedly pummeled … with fists and elbow causing severe blunt head trauma," according to Los Angeles County coroner's records.

Ajani Salim Fisher, a 33-year-old black man, has been arrested and charged with Lee's death. Lait said that the motive did not appear to be robbery and that Lee apparently did nothing to provoke the attack.

Lait declined to give any specific information about the argument between the two but said they had no prior relationship. The attack happened about 1:45 p.m. and Lee was pronounced dead at 8:50 p.m., according to coroner's records.
