A member of the gold-medal-winning 1960 U.S. Olympic basketball team, Boozer was traded to the Lakers by the New York Knicks in exchange for Dick Barnett in October 1965.

The 1959 No. 1 overall draft pick played in 79 games in the 1960-61 season, primarily as a backup. He was selected by the Chicago Bulls in the 1966 expansion draft. Boozer and the rest of the 1960 Olympic team were enshrined in the Hall of Fame in 2010.

Boozer died in 2012 at age 75.
