Chucky Atkins

Guard, #9

The NBA journeyman started all 82 games during the 2004-05 season after being acquired in a trade that sent Gary Payton and Rick Fox to Boston. He finished fourth on the team in scoring, averaging 13.6 points a game, and posted career highs in points and minutes played as the Lakers failed to reach the playoffs for the first time in 11 years. He created some controversy in March 2005 when he suggested only Kobe Bryant could stop the team’s struggles since “he’s the GM.” Atkins was traded to Washington in the off-season.
