Darius Morris
Guard, #1
- Born Jan. 3, 1991
- Attended Michigan
- Coached by Mike Brown
Selected 41st overall by the Lakers in the 2011 NBA draft, Morris saw limited playing time as a reserve point guard during the early part of the 2011-12 season before being assigned to the Lakers’ Developmental League affiliate. The Los Angeles native, who led Los Angeles Windward to a high school state division title in 2009, appeared in 13 games, averaging 2.7 points per game. Morris struggled while taking over the team’s backup point guard role from the injured Steve Blake, averaging 3.6 points per game and 40% shooting during a seven-game stretch. He was eventually replaced by fellow rookie Andrew Goudelock. After his demotion, Morris was limited to 10 minutes over the next nine games before being assigned to the Los Angeles D-Fenders in March.
