Morris re-signed with the Lakers before the start of the 2012-13 season, and saw an uptick in playing time after injuries decimated the roster early in the season. A series of strong two-way performances in December saw him replace Metta World Peace for a brief time as a starter.
Eventually, World Peace took back his starting role and Morris fell back behind Jodie Meeks in Coach Mike D’Antoni’s rotation.
Despite seeing limited playing time in the season’s second half, Morris’ best performance as a Laker came in Game 3 of the Western Conference quarterfinals against the San Antonio Spurs when he finished with 24 points and six assists.
The Lakers did not give Morris a qualifying offer at the end of the season, prompting him to sign a three-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, who then waived him less than a month into the 2013-14 season.
