Derrick Caracter, a 6-foot-9 forward selected by the Lakers in the second round of the 2010 draft, played as a backup during his rookie season in 2010-11, appearing in 41 games. He also played in two stints with the Lakers' development league team, the Bakersfield Jam.

Caracter, who was a high school star in his native New Jersey before playing with Texas El Paso, was arrested and charged with battery in April 2011 following an alleged incident at a restaurant in New Orleans.
