Jim Holstein won championships with the Lakers in 1953 and 1954. The 6-foot-3 forward-guard averaged 4.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 15.8 minutes in three seasons with the team.
Holstein also spent the 1955 baseball season as first baseman with the Quebec Braves, a Class C minor league affiliate of the Milwaukee Braves. He spend 35 years as a high school and college teacher and coach, including stints as basketball coach at St. Joseph’s of Indiana from 1961 to 1972 and Ball State from 1972 to 1977. He died at 77 in 2007.
