The left-handed Spriggs was a reliable performer off the bench for three seasons, enjoying his best season in 1984-85, his second season in L.A., when he averaged 6.7 points and 3.0 rebounds to help the Lakers to the NBA title.
The 6-foot-7 Spriggs had to work himself into the NBA from the Continental Basketball Assn., where, in 1982, he was named rookie of the year while playing for the Rochester Zeniths.
