A standout in the American Basketball Assn., Boone played primarily as a starter in 82 games with the Lakers in 1978-79. He was traded to the Lakers by the Denver Nuggets along with two second-round draft picks for Charlie Scott in August 1978. He was traded to Utah for a third-round draft pick in October 1979. Known for his work ethic and his ability to play through injury, Boone retired in 1981 having played in a then-record 1,041 consecutive games in the ABA and NBA.
