The seven-foot Samake played in only 13 games as a Laker and holds the distinction of being the first player from Mali to play in the NBA.

Unfortunately, he also holds the distinction of being the first Laker to be suspended for using steroids. Samake, who claimed he ingested the substance by mistake while taking a nutritional supplement, was suspended for five games in 2002.
