After leading the league in rebounding (15 per game) while playing for the San Diego Clippers in 1979-80, he was traded by the Clippers with Byron Scott to the Lakers in 1983 for Eddie Jordan, Norm Nixon, Jeff Hornacek and Bruce Dalrymple. He played in 69 regular-season games and 17 playoff games in 1983-84, helping lead the Lakers to an NBA Finals seven-game matchup with the Boston Celtics. He retired after that season.
