1959-60 Season

Record: 25-50, third place in Western Division

John Castellani became the Lakers coach before the season started, but he was replaced by former Lakers great Jim Pollard after an 11-25 start. The team finished in third place, which was good enough to reach the playoffs. Elgin Baylor led the team with 29.6 points and averaged 16.4 rebounds per game.

Playoffs: The Lakers swept Detroit in the first round before losing to St. Louis, 4-3, in the division finals.
