1964-65 Season

Record: 49-31, first place in Western Division

The Lakers won their third division title in four years, led once again by Jerry West, who finished second in the league at 31.0 points per game, and Elgin Baylor, who finished fifth at 27.1

Playoffs: The Lakers defeated Baltimore in six games to advance to the NBA Finals against, you guessed it, the Boston Celtics. Baylor injured a knee during the Baltimore series and was unable to play against Boston. West averaged 40.6 points per game in the postseason, but it wasn't enough as the Lakers lost to the Celtics in five games.
