1981-82 Season The Lakers won an NBA title this season

Record: 57-25, first place in Pacific Division

Paul Westhead was fired as coach and replaced by Pat Riley after the Lakers went 7-4 to start the season. The Lakers won 17 of their first 20 games under Riley and won the Pacific Division by five games over Seattle.

Playoffs: The Lakers dominated the playoffs, sweeping Phoenix and San Antonio to advance to the NBA Finals against Philadelphia. The Lakers defeated the 76ers in six games for their second title of the Showtime era.
