Record: 27-55, fifth in Pacific Division
A year after they were pegged as a favorite to challenge for the NBA title, the Lakers suffered one of their worst seasons in franchise history. With Dwight Howard gone and Kobe Bryant limited just to six games because of foot and knee injuries, the Lakers hobbled to a 27-55 record, posting the most losses in franchise history. The team lost an NBA-leading 319 man-games to injuries and failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2005. Coach Mike D’Antoni resigned less than two weeks after the season ended when the Lakers declined to pick up his 2015-16 season contract option.
