Ive lived in inglewood all my life im 20 years old, and ive never had a problem with anybody, living closer to the west side of inglewood is best perfect temprature clean streets, occasional graffiti closer to hawthorne Blvd but nothing too bad. I just wish there where more places to shop at. Melos is across from century, best spot to stop and eat especially after a late night out its open 24 hrs, and i never had a problem as ive gone to eat there late from 12:00 sometimes later around 3:30 am and no problems
what a great city for a ages to live. also lots of crime
The area between centinela (north), Hyde park (south), la Brea (west) and inglewood (east) is a terrible section. Drugs, gangs, robberies, murders, druggies. The Inglewood PD needs to definitely clean up this ugly area. Can't go to the dominos pizza on centinela and la brea because there's always guys hanging out next to the dominos at the little 99 cent store and video place. The area has decent mom and pop stores that make you feel at home. Inglewood Ave from Centinela to Beach is the worst.
POSITIVES
- Responsive City Government. I had graffiti painted on my wall and the city crew was painting over it (w matching color) 20 min later. Amazing.
- Requests about street repair and such are taken care of quickly.
- Affordable
- Love the burgeoning art community
- The weather. Much cooler than LA.
- Lovely downtown, Market str.
NEGATIVES
- The downtown could use a movie theatre or two and more restaurants, bars, clubs, nightlife.
- You have to go to Westchester or Culver City to find more diverse shopping opportunities.
...and a few never grow up, sadly for them! Am I right Adrian?
INGLEWOOD13 gang RLS
A neat city with the worst traffic lights in Manchester blvd, from Praire avenue to the 405.
Waste of fuel and time for useless stops in each corner.
Pros: Many longtime residents who support the community spirit. Many homes with character. Con: Schools and other public services desperately need more funding.
Love to live here!
Centinela park is my favorite and my dog loves its walking paths.
Shame on those, who can't keep this beauty clean.
Prejudice based on race is one of societys's great problem.
Inglewood's people got rid of it with education, work, and respect.
Pros: Great location. You can't beat that. It's not crowded. Parking is available.
Cons: Not diverse enough. Few whites live here. Bad reputation.
With a new mayor that turned Santa Monica to a tourist destination from a crime-ridden place, Inglewood has hope of becoming a great part of the South Bay again. It will take time and will be painful, but there is hope again.
Certainly we lived toughs times to get along each other. But the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King has prevail !
It's awesome how the community has developed the brotherhood in the last years. We're really blessed.
crime in your city, not a good place live
Inglewood's location and community spirit are positives...their full time city council has destroyed employee morale and economic development opportunities.
Inglewood has a great location with great weather, it's no wonder it was known as "The Crowning Jewel of the South Bay." Unfortunately, the city government has been terrible. and there is still a crime-associated stigma. Due to its location and other positive factors I see Inglewood becoming great again.
inglewood all day son
Inglewood offers a small-town ambience with easy access to the beach, the Westside, and other South Bay cities. The weather is great. The 1930s-style homes are timeless and quaint, neighbors are friendly and watch out for one another, and block clubs host block parties and go all with decorations during the holiday season. Inglewood's downside: wanton criminals who take advantage of hard-working professionals. However, that holds true for most of L.A. County.
