    Back on 92nd St.

I lived here from 62 til 81 when I left for the military. Even now I can still wander my Mom and Dad's home in my mind with picture perfect clarity.

I remember Wazansky Meat Market on Figueroa and Indio Tortillas on Broadway and 93rd. There used to be a hobby shop on Fig near 88th. What a cool place to visit for a kid.

I worked at Frank's Auto Parts for a few years. Frank was a member of the 442nd Reg Combat Team and he talked about his war experiences at length. I learned a lot from him.

Biggest adventure was when I walked to Mark Twain Library all by my little lonesome.

I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I lived at 548 W 106th street from 1963-1973. I now live in Mobile, Al. Reading about Vermont Vista brings back memories. Especially of Figueroa Street School. We only moved to Alabama because of my father's job transfer, but I loved our neighborhood and going to the beaches on the coast. I've been back a few times, and it still looks the same. We had some good times in our small house and fruit trees in the backyard. My parents worked hard to provide a good home and environment for us four kids. If I could turn back the hands of time. RRay

One of the comments mentioned the ocean breezes. I grew up on 122nd Street (Athens area) and now live on 110th Street btwn Hoover and Vermont. Still feel the ocean breezes, particularly on the transition from the 105 to the 110 freeway. My neighbors are wonderful people and I love my neighborhood (classic traditional homes, jacaranda trees, bay windows). I just wish we could get our local public servants to devote the same resources to keeping our community safe and beautiful as in the west and beach areas.

The north, west, and east boundries are correct for this neighborhood, but the south is wrong. The south border is Century Blvd. There is another neighborhood south of Century Blvd. called "Magnolia Square", which it is bordered by Vermont Blvd. on the west and I-110 freeway on the east and Imperial Hywy on the south and of course Century Blvd. on the north.
