Sorry I got mad at you for spelling my name wrong when I was little. It is a blessing to get to be a part of your family. I love having so many older brothers and sisters to look up to and especially an amazing second mom who is always there for me no matter what. I am so sorry, and please forgive me, for not reaching out to you and your family sooner. I honestly didn't know what I could say to you. When my husband and I heard the tragic news, we broke down in tears and prayed right away. We were at Cornerstone when Pastor Chan spoke about Walt. He talked about how he had come over to your house to pray with you and comfort you. Praise God, Walt is in Heaven. I met you and Walt during the Ensenada Imagine Trip 2007. My husband Dirk was the leader of our group. Remember all the tar from being on Pastor Santana's roof?... The Lord must have lead me to this page in the LA times online because I never read the LA Times voluntarily. And I can only imagine what this past year since the accident has been like for you. I pray God continues to be your every need and comfort. God bless you and your family. Mark Shipp told Jerry when he was visiting. News travels slowly to Portland, Oregon, I guess. We were so shocked. It has now been 10 months - and we hope your family is doing all right. What a terrible tragedy. We will always remember the fun times we had with you two, and Walt's great smile. We pray that God will continue to watch over you and provide all your needs. My earliest memories in my life is being at the ranch with a family that seems more like my relatives than many of my own relatives. I remember Walter's gentle, even keel nature. He allowed me to call him Wally after I watched Beaver episodes. I will always have fond memories of him and his extended family. One of the best times I remember was celebrating his and Annette's 50th birthday at the Ranch with a Square-dancing hoedown! I am still shocked that all this has happened but at the same time, I know that this family has a faith in God and a bond together that many families only wish they had. As I said before, it is a huge blessing to have known Walt and his family and they are an example of what I hope my family one day will become. To Jenny, Kelly & Ryan, Kristi, Casey, Larry & Ginny, Jerry & Annette, Mark & Vanessa, and Tom & Jacque...you have all been in my prayers and you will continue to be. Although its been awhile, I still love your family very much and pray God showers you with blessings through this tough time and comforts you as only He can. There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light. All the pain and grief are over, Every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, Safely home in Heaven at last. You must not grieve so sorely For I love you dearly still; Try to look beyond earth's shadows, Pray to trust our Father's will. There is work still waiting for you, So you must not idly stand; Do it now, while life remaineth, You shall rest in Jesus' land. When that work is all completed, He will gently call you Home; Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come! Thank you, Walt, for always helping me, for the long hours, for your incredible knowledge...you knew the .65 better than anyone else!! (Oh I love that kid) Finding the strength to get through this has not been on our own merit, it has only been through our Lord and Savior. I knew He would carry us through and give us the strength, but I had NO idea to what extent. God has far exceeded any expectation that I had of Him carrying this family through this trial. Our God is all sufficient and He has revealed Himself to me this week like no other. We have a purpose here on earth and that is to share that "Salvation is Real". The man at 7-eleven said he could not enter into the temple that he goes to unless he has "peace of mind." My Savior is the Prince of Peace, the Creator of that Peace, and the giver of Peace. Walt knew this Savior, lived his life as an example of serving that Savior, and that is why we can find peace, joy, and even laughter, while accepting that God, our Creator, is in control. May Jesus Christ continue to receive all the Glory that He is due to to Walt's obedience. The Fuller Family has been tested this week with Walt's passing and other family members being caught up in the turmoil that was hurricane Ike, and on-going health problems. If there is one family that does not deserve all of this, it is definately the Fuller's. I know that they appreciate all of the prayers and praise for Walt, and I also know that their conviction in Christ will help them conquer this difficult time. Fri, 19 Sep 2008 06:02:32 -0700 Dessa Emch, National Weather Service on September 19, 2008 http://projects.latimes.com/metrolink-crash/name/walt-fuller/#c2996 http://projects.latimes.com/metrolink-crash/name/walt-fuller/#c2996 To The Fuller Family, Please accept my sincerest condolences on the loss of Walt Fuller your beloved son, husband, father, brother and grandpa. I had known Walt for almost eight years, through the FAA. Walt, as an Air Traffic Manager, had to 'endure' my National Weather Service (NWS) inspections. He was a good sport and the inspections were always 'fun'. Walt was top notch, always prepared, very meticulous and organized, and was clearly a dedicated hard worker. Walt was very passionate about his career in aviation and it was clear to me that his number one priority at his towers, was the safety of the flying public and he often worked overtime to ensure and fulfill the FAA's mission. Walt, to me, was a genuine and authentic leader; he was not someone who was just 'in management'. Walt was a leader that people wanted to follow and that is the difference. I stood right behind him and supported him throughout the years. He conducted his life with integrity and I clearly saw that through his work and his extreme admiration for his beautiful family. He always spoke so highly of Jenny, his wife and was really proud of her and her accomplishments, as well as his adult children. In his office, you could see his family photos all over his desk, he had the photos there to remind him how lucky he was to have such a supportive and wonderful family; he felt blessed. Walt Fuller always took the high road when life threw him challenges, and life did, as it does with all of us. The difference is in the intentions and the actions and Walt always wanted to 'do the right thing' and in my book, he did. I saw Walt for the last time on Tuesday, September 9th, during the annual NWS inspection. We had a great time visiting and talking about what he was going to do when he retired in a year. Walt always received nothing less than an 'excellent' rating as a result of the NWS inspections. I lost my mother at the age of 54 a few years ago and this poem brought comfort to me during my time of grieving and it still does, the pain of the loss of a loved one will always be part of our lives. I'm Free Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free. I'm following the path God has laid you see. I took His hand when I heard Him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way. I found that peace at the close of the day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joys. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Oh yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life's been full, I savored much, Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief. Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and peace to thee. God wanted me now; He set me free!
