Granada Hills Charter High

Granada Hills Charter High School is the best school to go to. LAUSD only wants the new schools for the money while Granada wants the new school so they could spread the success that the school has acheived such as high test scores and wanting the best for every student. The reason wy our school has such a high graduation rate is because Granada offers so many resources to help you achieve your goal the best of your ability

I have two boys, one in CSUN who went Granada hills charter high school and the other still in granada... I have to honestly say Granada is the best school to attend...CSUN is not as hard as my son thought it would be.... Well thanks to Granada for keep the education to the highest... Making a easy transition to a university..

Good school, but they give the kid's way to much homework. They are up to late doing it all, and don't get enough sleep. parent

Granada is a great school, the teachers there really do care about their students, the school has many clubs and the even offer tutoring , yeah the rules may be a little strict but they help keep the school good. ASB does a lot in helping keep Granada fun and they listen to what students want. There are a lot of school activities and the lunch menu is great at Granada

Other LAUSD schools in the Valley charge for campus parking as well. However, it is higher than others and that's why our ASB is currently working on lowering the rate. Other high schools in the Valley have a fee for AP exams, too. Since collegeboard.com gives an amount that they will waive, I'm sure most high schools demand AP exam fees. However, looking at the fee waivers given by collegeboard and other school, Granada's seems considerably better. The regular exam fee is standard (meaning this is what collegeboard makes everyone pay) at $87, but for those with free or reduced lunch, it's only $20. If this is still too much, you should talk to your counselor about a lower charge. The cost of lunch is more than you would pay at another LAUSD school, because Granada is not just a LAUSD school -- it's also a charter. Considering that we get chocolate pudding (with whipped cream! even if it is low-fat or fat free), a salad bar, amazing salads and wraps, hot cocoa, addicting cookies, and sandwiches that don't gross me out (you can see the variety in choice as well as a balance; although we do have treats like hot cocoa on a rainy day, there are healthy salads to make up for it), I'm much happier with our lunches. I have been notified that my library book is overdue over the next two days (they give you a summons in class), and I've witnessed other students receiving notices in the same amount of time. Lastly, what school facilities are you referring to?

This so called community school is like other schools they have good teachers and bad ones. You may get a good education but it appears that the administration is all about the money and looking good (Test scores). Granada charges their student to park on campus, they attach a service charge to take the AP exam because they contracted the service out to another company and the parents have to pick up the bill (not by choice). The cost of lunch is more than you would pay at another LAUSD school. If you have a overdue book you are not notified until the bill is over $5. Student groups have to pay to use school facilities after hours. Where are the Special Education students from the community, not at their home school. Most Special Education students are at Chatsworth, Cleveland, Kennedy and Northridge Academy. The selected few Special Education Students attend Granada.

Now that I am finished with college, it is hard to realize I learned very little in High School. But, it should be noted that every experience you get is solely based upon what you put into it. When I look back, I wish I would have been encouraged to do more activities and work harder with my studies. California spends too much money on education for me to feel the way I do.. it should be different. Granada is a great school and should be used to the greatest ability by the student.

granada is a very liberated school with meaningless rules and very strict in their policies with certain issues. school teaching is excellent but very demeaning.
good school; yes. horrible rules and political aspects; yes! they do care but -________- its all for the $$$ ):

went to granada several years ago. its a great school,loads of activities, teachers who care and make you work hard, etc - if you get into the good classes, i.e. honors, magnet, a.p, call it what you will just don't get sidelined to regular, just-to-graduate-high-school classes.
