Five comments about Delphi Academy of Los Angeles
I have two children who have been enrolled at Delphi for two and half years. They are both excelling in all of their subjects, and they truly look forward to their time at school. I don't know if that is true for the average public and/or private school student, nowadays.
The curriculum is competitive while the teaching methods are outstanding. Each child does not move ahead until he has mastered the level that he is on. Too often, children fall behind because their individual needs aren't noticed or addressed until much too late, if ever. Remember the senior high school student who sat in your Freshman English class? It wasn't because he was dumb, it was because his academic troubles were not fixed when they first occurred, and he continued to fall more and more behind.
What is important for me, as a parent, is to know that my children are really learning whatever subjects they embrace and that they enjoy the process. Public schools are bogged down and have no choice but to send children home with 3-4 hours worth of homework each night. Most private schools seem to want to follow suit, as if what the public schools are doing is so successful. Delphi doesn't send home hours of homework to its students each night because it doesn't have to. Children are highly productive while they are at school and they get their work done under the supervision of trained teachers. And parents are saved from the tiring and often unsuccessful job of being the homework police.
Delphi goes from Kindergarten through 12th Grade and what I love most about that is the wonderful interaction that occurs between younger and older students. It is a safe and nurturing environment for students of all ages.
Both my boys enrolled at Delphi last year and I have found my boys to be truly positively challanged both in team sports (soccer, football, basketball) but also with the amazing reading program that Delphi Acadamy offers.
I am a very satisfied and happy parent and can highly recommend this school to any parent who wants the best education for their child.
They push the students to take responsibility for their studies, to make their studies their own and to apply what they are studying - not make it a memorization game. Application is key, and that is what is going to enable my boys to do well later in life.
Call the Delphi Academy and find out for yourself what the buzz is all about. :)

I moved my kids to Delphi just over a year ago. They were both behind in their basic school skills and were not getting enough of the other activities like the arts and science.
Within 4 months, both my kids were almost completely caught up in all their subjects and added quite a bit of other activities like Drumming lessons, piano lessons (things I had to pay for extra before were now apart of their curriculm!) sculpting, drawing, major performances, choir, soccer, basketball, football etc.
My son is now well ahead of his level and actually looks forward to going to school and my daughter is right on her level with aspirations to be well ahead shortly.
The teachers really work with the students to help them not only get ahead but also to really get everything they can out of what they are learning.
I am very impressed!
Best, Parent of now two smart kids!!
I have been familiar with this school for some time. I am very glad to know that there are schools out there that cater to the individual child and families needs. I appreciate their years of experience in education, also the use of study methods and a curriculum that are as effective as they are logical.
I know that when I do have children, they will flourish under my watchful eye and at this amazing academy.
There are no "teachers" they are supervisors, kids go at their own pace, so if your child wants to go slow, they just have targets for the day. we knew kids who were 16 yrs old still doing 5th grade work. It is based on Applied scholastics, which doesn't teach geography until 11th gr. nor algebra until
10th or 11th gr - never any homework. you can see by the small enrollment that mostly this is a scientology based school so if your child want to join the real world for sports or have a chance at any college this is not the place
