One comment about Wonderland Avenue Elementary

I'm a '94 magnet alumna who would consider enrolling my child at Wonderland again. The school is a special little place inside Laurel Canyon with a reputation for academic excellence, high parental involvement, and an uncanny ability to raise a lot of money. The school also has an established track record in providing students from low-income backgrounds, like myself, with possibilities: with shepherding us into cohorts which attended reputable (public) middle and high schools, which in turn then tracked us into elite colleges which operate generous financial aid programs. I suspect, however, that it is exhausting to be a parent at a school like Wonderland, with its fundraising expectations. As a student, I was largely insulated from the parental politics, although I would be remiss if I didn't note that they could've been less than savory.
