Five comments about the Maywood Academy High

Hey you guys can fight it. The charter thing is a scam to get rid of unionized teachers. Tell your parents and start your own protests, get signatures. Guess what this is your school. Go for it. I did back in the day and we ended up in the Governor office. We won what we were asking for too. This is not Russia, we own this place. You can do it.

Despite what many think and hear, Maywood Academy is a very good school. There are many wonderful teachers, the administration is up to date with most things, and I believe this school has a very good enviroment. The biggest concern the students and parents of Maywood Academy have is the school turning charter. We have been told the reason behind this is the schools low state test scores. Most of us do agree we need to better them, however we believe we haven't been given the opportunity to improve on our own and come up with our own plan, without turning to the charter "plan".It wil be devestating for the school to turn charter, loose its teachers, resources, and some students, without the people in charge of this even considering to give us a chance for improvement. There are many other schools around the area that are way below us in their scores. The fact that they are picking on us to become charter seems unfair because as a new school we haven't really been given the opportunity to prove ourselves.

I m a student at Maywood Academy i m in my senior year and poeple might think people dont care beacause i m a senior . But i do because these school was a good tHink in the community it help surrounding city beacuse maywood was goin to help the overcrowded of bell high . And the reason they tell us that they are goin to sell the school is beacuse of our low scores but like i ve said other school are worse and they have being open for years but in my opinion they wouldnt do these in beverly hills i think it gets to the point of discrimination . I hope who ever read these try to help us on keeping the school the way it is .

So as the world hears it maywood academy might become a charter.
a terrible decision i may add research shows that school under a private business goes down into shreds. therefore tomorrow maywood academy will be having a meeting about this issue at 5 thirty right on!!!

I am a student at this school.
It may seem like this school might be behind according to test scores
however I believe this school is doing well. The faculty is well organized. The teachers are great.
The school offers AP ,tutoring, workshops. i think the only weaknesses are student lack of participation and cash cuts. We had to see a lot of teachers go.
