Six comments about the Foundations School Community
FSC has been a great school for my children to grow and develop academically and as caring and loving people. They have learned to problem solve, think critically, help others, and work cooperatively. They enjoy learning and do not have to compete against their friends. They know how to work hard on traditional types of assignments, but they also get to do many hands-on projects and they participate in great field trips. Their teachers care about their well-being and support them emotionally too. It is a warm and loving environment!!!
FSC is a true model in what education is and should be. In addition to having a strong academic program, this school has managed to implement the program in an experienced based way so that the kids love to learn. My children don't want to miss a day of school ever!!! The curriculum is exciting and innovative. The field trips are remarkable. The older children just returned from spending three days on a sailing vessel where they actually worked, learned, and helped sail the ship. Talk about experience-based learning!!! The facility is big with a 3 acre field, gates, fences, plants everywhere. The have lots of art, PE, woodwork, community service, and best of all, they have an amazing committment to helping children socially and emotionally as well as academically!!! What's not to like?
I have 2 kids at Foundations, a son in 5th grade and a daughter in kindergarten.
My kids don't want to miss a day of school. My 5th grader teachers are enthusiastic , sensitive, humerus, playful, setting limits when needed and very warm.
Same for the kindergarten teachers, The great P.E teacher, the music and the movement/drama teacher. They are all amazing. Sheri the principal managed to figure out a way of running a school, where the kids enjoy a democratic environment , while striving for excellency. kids who deeply care for humans and the world around them and more . kids who love to learn , investigate and explore. I really feel like it is the best school in town.
Let me being with saying that Director Sheri Werner is the most amazing educator I have ever met. She lives for Progressive Education and for every student at Foundations School Community to have this experience. Sheri personally knows each child, their strenghts and weaknesses, and assists the Faculty in how to reach them and teach them. My daughter is now in the 7th grade and the curriculum is still progressive but transitioning into the mainstream academic and test taking so she will be more than ready for High School. She loves to go to school and and is involved in her studies and loves to learn. Looking back, I could not have seen her going anywhere else for K-8 grades. This is a wonderful place for any child.
I have two children who have thrived at Foundations. My children are well educated, and are thriving socially and emotionally as well. They are humanitarians who care about helping others and have learned to work well with their peers. Our family loves Foundations School Community!!!
My student did not learn much there, certainly not recommened!
