If it wasn't for volunteers like him, other young men would have to be drafted to fight in this war.
    — Ignacio Lucio, father

Lucio was born in Mexico and came to the U.S. when he was 11. He was a permanent legal resident when he was killed and his family hoped that he would be granted U.S. citizenship posthumously.

10 memories of Angel De Jesus Lucio Ramirez

Our people have fought for this country. We have sacrificed almost everything to be here. Why then are we denied citizenship when we have proven ourselves? Lucio and many other brave young men and women serve as reminders that regardless of where we were born, when our country calls we answer. God Bless you Lucio. Be at Peace.
