12 memories of Anton R. Phillips
THIS WAS A SHOCK TO ME, I WAS IN THE BAND WITH HIM AT INGLEWOOD HIGH AND I JUST WANT TO SEND MY HEARTFELT CONDOLENSES TO THE FAMILY MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU!!!!!!
I'm from Orange County and wasn't aware of the death of this fine soldier until today. The mere fact that he joined and went to a terrible place to fight should remind us all of the sacrifices others make for our country. Thank you, Sgt. Phillips.
He was more then just a friend a hero he was my dad and i will miss him..... and i will all was love him
to adear friend ijust foundout on june 18 2010 i miss you and i am depeeply sadden and my heart goes out to your daughters heaven is a lot more joyful today because you are walking with the angels from bunny
My heart still hurts every day, for my friend who’s passed away. Taken from us in Afghanistan, for reasons we don’t understand. 7 months have passed and still no why, 7 months ago I said Goodbye. SSG Phil you were like no other; and to most of us you were a brother. You always took good care of your “Joes” and kept the rest of us up on our toes. You’d make us laugh so hard we’d cry, we talked about you coming by. To the house for BBQ, then sit around and drink a few. Those were the days that are now long gone but these are the times that will live on……in our minds every day, in our hearts is where you‘ll stay. SSG ANTON R.PHILLIPS – GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN!
It truly hurts my heart to find out that my friend, no my brother, has fallen. As most of you know Anton had that ability to pretty much befriend anyone he met. I am sorry that I could not say goodbye to one of my most best of friends. You should know that you'll never be forgotten thru your kids first and will always be remembered by the crew for we will always be your brothers from other mothers. I hate that you are gone but I rejoice to know that your are in the gates of heaven with your mother and my father I will always love and cherish the times we spent growing up.
I don't know this soldiers as I'm just visiting the LA Times website. I thank him and his family for his dedication to our county. Thank you for keeping America free and protecting our beliefs. It's because heroes like you my very young daughter will be able to live freely in this wonderful country. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! As his year's anniversary of his death know that his dedication to our country and sacrifice will never be forgotten. RIP
its been one year phill today is your day we miss you wish you were to celebrate with us but your here in your own way
We were like brothers always in contact. I was deeply hurt when I got the news. We miss you!
You Were more than an NCO. You were a friend, you were a mentor, and you were a brother. We were all family in the 5th and you are still missed to this very day. It still brings tears to my eyes when I think about the fact that you are no longer with us. I pray that you are in a better place, and I know that one day we will meet again. The world was a better place with you.
We were friends...brothers...we drank...we laughed...we sang...and we danced...the times will never be forgotten...we trained hard...and went hard...till this day you are in my thoughts and hopes...see you on the other side brother...Jeff Slater

Your comment / poem was so moving I was overcome unexpectedly by emotion after I read it. I did not know Sgt. Phillips, but after reading some of the comments I almost felt as if I knew him based on people's memories. It's also a reminder to share thoughts and kindness to those in our lives while they are here with us.
I have never seen this page in the LA times before, but I was moved by people's comments and sharing of their friends and loved ones. It is very sad to see so many names, and this is not all of them in the US.
RIP and God bless! Thank you for your selfless service to the United States of America.
