Billy Gomez, 25
He was one of my favorite, best soldiers. He never questioned anything, no matter how crappy the job you asked him to do. To find out he was in the hospital in Germany dying when I was stationed there and I didn't know it and didn't get to see him -- it was an honor to have known him.
— Doug Adelson, former platoon sergeant
Gomez was injured when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in Naka, Afghanistan. He died a week later in Germany. He was the youngest of triplets. His brothers were also serving in the Army at the time he was killed.
