Mora was one of four soldiers killed July 24 at Qalat, Afghanistan. The men were fatally wounded when insurgents attacked their military vehicle with an improvised explosive device. In 2009 Mora received a commendation from Adm. Michael G. Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, for dashing into a minefield to rescue Afghan civilians injured when a roadside bomb exploded.

36 memories of Conrad A. Mora
Sgt. Mora was a great leader and a better friend. We spent many a night in Afghanistan during his first deployment. Ate, slept, and laughed together. Save me a spot Conrad.
We were the parallel reflection of each other. We both grew up on the same street in the Philippines as children. We were the youngest sergeants in our unit in Korea. We attended the Advanced Leadership Course together in Oklahoma. Then we ended up in Ft. Lewis, WA together. We grew up with each other even when we didn't even know we were right next door at any given time or place. I love you "Pare".
-SSG Alistair V Mercado
I met Conrad for the first time when I flew into San Diego to attend his son's Baptismal. His wife is my great friend and I am glad they chose me to be the Ninang (Godmother) for their son. I was looking forward to seeing them again next May while I am still stationed in Korea. Conrad you are greatly missed. Take care my friend.
I watched Conrad grow up. From the second grade where he was placed into the Gifted and Talented Program along with my son, until he enlisted. I watched him graduate and develop from elementary, middle, and high school. He spent many hours at my home in San Diego. The amazing thing that I will always remember about Conrad is he always did his best, and always succeeded by his own grit and determination. He was self-motivated and had a pure character. It was my high honor to have known him. Thank you Conrad for the life you sacrificed for America's freedom.
I was one of Conrad's high school teachers and I remember his AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) class voted him Most Inspirational because even then he demonstrated leadership and embodied all of the qualities of a genuinely caring human being. I still have the email he sent me telling me he'd been promoted as one of the youngest Sergeants. I still remember being amazed that he took the time to thank me while he was deployed in South Korea. I will miss him dearly and believe the physical world has lost him way too soon but the spiritual world has an excellent addition.
I know that you're looking down on your family. Your family regarded you as a war hero, not afraid of anything, ready for action. Nobody can take that away from you. May you and your family find peace in this world, rest in peace SSGt Conrad Mora.
Conrad, My Husband, My Love, My Best Friend.....I was blessed with five years to share my life with you, we made a wonderful home, we brought a beautiful son into this world, he is the greatest gift you have ever given me. I will raise him in your memory my love.
One day I will see you again, all of us will, until then, rest in peace my love, you deserve to rest after all of your hard work and sacrifice...WE LOVE YOU CONRAD! I will be sure to let Christopher know his daddy was and always will be a hero...I love you....I love you...see you in my dreams tonight my love...
SSG MORA and I are in the same unit. I was very impressed with him. To be such a young NCO and have so much knowledge and also the respect of his peers. I will definitely miss my friend. May God bless and watch over your family. Rest in Peace.
We grew up together. We watched eachother grow from kids to adults and then into leading our own lives. He was always a charismatic type of guy. He loved doing whatever he set his mind to and cherished all the relationships he knew no matter how apart we all were. We all miss you bro. Know that
Ann,
I didn't know your husband but my daughter and son-n-law, Keith and Ashley Couture did. We were just sitting at the dinner table a week or so ago and Ash was telling me about you guys. So sorry for your loss and I pray that God will give you the strength you need to get through the days ahead.
Conrad...
You served our country with pride and honor. You are an example to everyone...everywhere.
Its still hard to believe that he's gone, yet another friend of mine who's life was taken. He fought for his country, and he truly is a hero! You will be missed by all CONRAD!
Conrad, you are a friend, a brother, and a hero. You, Ambrogio, Cortes, Pseftis, and myself were the real deal. The Ratpack. We had a lot of good times. We had a lot of bad times. We even have some times that I would deny ever happend despite the pictures on facebook. You will be missed and you will always be remembered. My only regret was that I wasn't there in the fight with you this time. Ann, if there is anything I can do or give to help, know I wouldn't hesitate. I would walk on shattered glass.
I have a pic of Conrad Mora and Andrew Hand. They paid the ultiment price for this country. They were best friends.MamaG72000@aol.com.I am sorry for their loss.
I was SSG Mora's Platoon Sergeant at Bragg and deployed with him to Afghanistan the first time. It was a pleasure and an honor to have known him and his wonderful family. He is a true American hero and this world is a lesser place without him. May God rest his soul and comfort his family. You all will be in our prayers.
I remember when all of us used to live at 8035 Paradise Valley Rd. apartment complex. Mahn, Conrad and Ronald (my brother) were inseparable. These two basically grew up together. They epitomize the meaning of childhood friendship.
You are this country's hero Conrad. May you rest in peace...
I met conrad at Fort Bragg, my husband served with him there. He was a good man and a wonderful husband. He wil truly be missed he was loved by everyone. Ann you and your son are in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless, and may he rest in peace
Sorry for your loss...May God bless you and your family
Even though I didn't get to see you often, I knew alot through my sister Ann. I knew how much she loved you so I grew to love you too. You were a great dad, husband, and brother-in-law. I wish you guys came to visit more often. You and Tex could of played your guitars for me and Ann. Girls love that kinda of stuff. You will be greatly missed. Your life was cut too short but you will live on through your wife Ann and your beautiful son Christopher. He WILL know that you loved him dearly and that you did what you did for them.
When I first heard about the news, I was at work. The first thing that came to mind was "NO WAY,this is a joke!" I broke down and cried. Conrad was a GREAT FRIEND. I attended junior high with him and remember him well as a very kind person. All his friends loved him. He was very athletic. I remember him always being the first one to finish 2 laps in PE class. I know you are in a better place right now. All of us, your friends, had been fortunate to have known you. WE WILL MISS YOU!! To his wife Ann, his son Christopher, and his family, you have my deepest sympathy for your loss, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
To SSgt Conrad A. Mora,
Thank you so much for your ultimate sacrifice... In behalf of my brothers and sisters in the Armed Forces, YOU'RE OUR HERO. YOU will never be forgotten... RIP our Brother.
GOD BLESS to the Mora Family... We love you guys...
Conrad was my brother's childhood friend, from Elementary into Junior High and ultimately High School.
He was always respectful to his filipino elders. I was glad to have at least got to see him before his second tour in Afghanistan. I never thought my
"see you later" to him would turn out to be a "goodbye." We miss you Conrad, especial Michael (my brother), one of your dearest childhood friends.
SSG Mora was an outstanding Soldier and NCO, and an even better person. He was the type of dedicated and hard working NCO that makes a unit better. I am proud to say that I served with such a great American. May God be with him, and with his family.
My condolence to his family, and his unit.
Conrad, we will all miss you brotha, I'm still in shock but I'll do my best to watch out for Ann and Chris. R.I.P brotha, Airborne All The Way!
We first met our cousin when he moved to the U.S. from the Philippines, I believe he was around the age of 9 or younger. Many years later he visit us in Las Vegas in 2002, while I was home on leave for Christmas. He shared his interest in joining the Army once completing High School. I served in Iraq with my husband in 05'. (An Najaf) FOB Duke. We were very lucky to have returned home safely. Conrad, I wish I had kept in better touch with you, but through pictures and stories, I know you served with honor. Your wife and son are very proud of you and Chris will indeed grow up knowing his father - a true hero. You will be missed. I'm sorry I can only be there at your ceremony in spirit; a moment will be shared in silence.

From one Vet/Paratrooper to another, they say the good always die young. May God take care of you and continue to watch over your family during this difficult time. To Ann, your son and the Mora family, we send our blessings to you to let you know he died a hero which some people will never truly understand. But we do!!!!!!
Conrad Mora is the type of person you never forget. He was always polite, and respectful. He impressed me the most because he led from the front, and was concerned for his soldiers. Conrad was an honarable soldier, husband , and Father who will be missed by all of us.
He will always be honered and remebered in our house. The world has become a much smaller place without him.
I never had the pleasure of meeting your husband Ann. You and Chris just moved in next door to me. All I can say is that I am so truly sorry for your loss. My husband got home from Iraq the same day you lost your beloved Conrad in Afghanistan. I have cried many tears for you and Chris' loss. This was our 3rd year long deployment. Please no more... It just has to stop!
I have known SSG Mora since we were in Fort Sill together back in 2004/2005. He was an outstanding NCO and an even more outstanding person. May God bless his Family and please know he will never be forgotten.
I would like to offer my condolence. Death is not easy. Please read the scriptures in Revelation 21:3, 4 where the Bible tells us that there will be no more sickness or dying. Almighty God is going to soon bring peace upon the earth. Also, you will have a change to see your dead love one again. You can read that in John 5:28, 29. The wicked will be no more and the meek will possess the earth. You can read that in Psalms 37:10, 11. I hope these scriptures will give you some hope. May the God of peace and comfort be with you.
I will always remember Conrad as the sweet, brave, funny guy that always knew the right words to say. Ever since the 8th grade, Conrad has always been the guy that girls always swooned for but not me..haha..I fell for his best friend Ronald and plus my best friend Rhonda was the one who ended up going out with him. But that’s how I knew of him, girls always talked about him! But finally we became friends in the 8th grade..in a dance group! Yes, Conrad knows how to dance and he’s really good at it too! Break dancing was more of his thing, as well as rapping =). But we met then and since then we became great friends, also because he’s best friends with my boyfriend Ronald. They were each other’s first friends in the United States and let me tell you, they were and still are inseparable. Whatever Conrad did, Ronald would follow..even it was something crazy like jumping off of trees or roofs or whatever..haha. They were like brothers! But Conrad not only had one brother but he had a handful of friends that he grew up with ( Rodolf, Michael, Darwin, Joshua, Bryan, Ralph, Kendall and of course Ronald). They were a crew that did everything together! Till this day, I still believe that they share some traits that are similar to Conrad but I guess it’s because while growing up they learned things from one another. Conrad has always been known to lead and that’s why it’s no surprise that Conrad is a SSG in the Army. He’s always been the bravest one of the group and at the same time very compassionate to his friends and especially to his family. He has always been a sweetheart, caring for others feelings and listening to your problems. He sure listened to some of mine and again he always knew the right words to say. Conrad is an all around guy that has your back when you’re in need and you always believe him when he tells you that everything’s going to be okay and for some reason it always is. Conrad’s just Conrad…a husband, father, brother, friend, and hero to all! <3
I met Conrad in middle school in San Diego. He was an athletic guy who I could proudly say we were always trying to be at each other's necks when it came to who could be the more athletic one by outdoing each other on mile runs, or competitions. He would always come out on top, but now that I think about it, I will always stand behind him and give him the honor he deserves for being a real hero. Not only in middle school, but solely for our country. We miss you brother.
Miss yah bro. We had some fun back when we were privates some of the stuff we did. Heavan Was in need of a hero and they damn sure got one RIP "Jack" nothin but love
Sorry... I just found out about Conrads passing through my brother Maj Micahel M. Mora. I am MSgt Abraham Crisologo Mora, Jr. from Guam. I'm not quite sure if we are related but we do share the same sentiments that everyone has shared and more... We too have lost our brother Sgt Samson A. Mora in Afganistan on July 10, 2008. Our family know first hand how you all feel... It's very hard to express my feelings... There isn't a day we don't forget and we will never forget Sam...
